The National EPA is subject to the Australian Government’s performance and accountability framework under the:
- Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act)
- Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule).
Corporate plan
As a non-corporate Commonwealth entity, the National EPA must prepare and publish a Corporate Plan for each reporting period. The Corporate Plan is our primary planning document and sets out our:
- purpose
- key activities
- operating context
- performance measures
- other information required by the PGPA framework.
As a newly established agency, the National EPA’s first Corporate Plan is under development and will be published by 30 June 2027.
Annual report
The National EPA is required to report on actual performance each year through annual performance statements. These statements assess our performance in achieving our purposes against the measures and targets set out in our Corporate Plan and Portfolio Budget Statements.
Our annual reports, including annual performance statements, will be published on this website when available.
Our agency was established on 1 July 2026. Before this, our functions were part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
We have not yet reported as our new agency. You can still access information published on the department’s website.
Budget information
Budget information relating to the National EPA will be published through the Australian Government Budget and Portfolio Budget Statements process. Information will be made available on this website when applicable.
Audit and risk
The National EPA will establish an Audit and Risk Committee in accordance with the PGPA Act and PGPA Rule. The Audit and Risk Committee Charter will be published on this website once approved.
