The National EPA has released its Regulatory Posture, setting out how it will regulate, make decisions and work with stakeholders to protect the environment and support economic prosperity.

The Regulatory Posture sets out five commitments that will guide how the agency aspires to deliver modern and effective environmental regulation.

These commitments reinforce our approach:

  • Proactive and problem-solving engagement.
  • Supporting and expecting compliance.
  • Timely, consistent and impartial decision-making.
  • Fair, firm and decisive enforcement.
  • Stewardship of the regulatory system.

The Regulatory Posture is part of the National EPA’s commitment to being a transparent, practical and evidence-based regulator.

By setting clear expectations and working with stakeholders, the agency aims to support compliance with environmental laws to prevent harm and address environmental risks.

This approach aims to provide greater certainty for businesses and support better environmental outcomes.
