We regulate the international export, import and transit of hazardous waste. If your waste is moving over international borders, you will need to apply for a permit.
States and territories regulate hazardous waste within their area.
Each state or territory has their own laws and policies to follow. You will also need to apply for relevant permits, licences and/or registrations. These cover transporting, storing, treating and disposing of hazardous waste.
