This permit is valid until 10 July 2026.

For a 10-year permit to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 630,000 cubic metres (in-situ) of dredged material derived from the maintenance dredging of Pilbara Iron’s managed port areas at the Port of Dampier, Western Australia.

The permit is valid until 29 May 2036

For a permit to dump the former hydrographic survey vessel, the HMAS Melville, offshore in Commonwealth waters southeast of Jervis Bay, New South Wales.

The permit is valid until 30 September 2026.

For a permit to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 3.2 million cubic metres (in-situ) of dredged material derived from the capital dredging of the berth pocket and departure channel at the Amrun Port Facility at Weipa, Queensland.

This permit is valid until 30 November 2029.

For a permit to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 355,000 cubic metres (in-situ) of capital dredged material derived from the Optimised Mardie Project, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Karratha, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

For the dumping (abandonment in situ) of 2 mooring clump weights, offshore approximately 38 kms WNW of Thursday Island, Torres Strait, Queensland.

This permit is valid until 1 December 2026.

For the placement of an artificial reef for recreational fishing purposes. The reef comprises 300 steel-reinforced concrete modules. Located offshore approximately 44 kilometres north-west of Port Hedland, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 29 September 2057.

For a 10-year permit to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,974,000 cubic metres (in-situ) of dredged material derived from the maintenance dredging of the entrance channel and bend and the inner harbour at the Port of Devonport, Devonport, Tasmania.

This permit is valid until 29 August 2035.

For the placement of an artificial reef for recreational fishing purposes. The reef comprises 2 purpose-built steel modules. Located offshore approximately 2.5 kilometres south-east of Sawtell, New South Wales.
 

This permit is valid until 1 January 2056.

For the placement of an artificial reef for recreational fishing purposes. The reef comprises 2 purpose-built steel modules. Located offshore approximately 5 kilometres south of Ballina, New South Wales.

This permit is valid until 1 January 2056.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump, one vessel (the James Capstan unmotorised barge) in waters adjacent to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 31 January 2026.

For the placement of an artificial reef for recreational fishing purposes. The reef comprises up to 200 purpose-built concrete modules, located in 40 clusters of 5, adjacent to the Esperance Jetty, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 25 June 2055.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 450,000 cubic metres (in-situ) of dredged material derived from the maintenance dredging of the Pilbara Port Authority’s managed port areas at the Port of Dampier, Western Australia.

This permit is valid for 5 years until 14 May 2030.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 35,649 cubic metres (in-situ) of capital dredged material, derived from the dredging of the berth pocket and inner harbour at the Sino Iron Terminal at Cape Preston, Western Australia.

This permit is valid for 5 years until 14 May 2030.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,400 cubic metres (in-situ) of capital dredged material, derived from the dredging of the marine intake structure of the Belmont Desalination Plant, Belmont, New South Wales.

This permit is valid for 5 years until 15 April 2030.

For a burial at sea located offshore of Portland, Victoria.

This permit is valid until 12 April 2025.

For the placement of an artificial reef for research purposes. The reef comprises purpose-built structures consisting of 64 concrete mats, 36 limestone aggregate reefs and 8 recycled bivalve shell reefs. Located offshore approximately 12 kilometres south of Cape Otway, Victoria, in the northwest corner of Apollo Marine Park.

This permit is valid until 17 January 2055.

For a burial at sea located offshore of Fremantle, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 14 November 2024.

This permit is valid until 22 April 2056.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump, up to 80,000 cubic metres (in-situ) of dredged material derived from maintenance dredging at the Port of Fremantle, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 31 March 2029.

To load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 18,100 cubic metres (in-situ) of capital dredged material, derived from the Overseas Passenger Terminal Berthing Infrastructure Project in Sydney, New South Wales.

This permit is valid until 28 February 2026.

This permit is valid until 8 March 2029.

For the dumping (abandonment in-situ) of the Thebe-1 exploration wellhead, within petroleum title WA-63-R. Located approximately 280 kilometres north-west of Barrow Island off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 28 February 2025.

A variation (No. 1) was granted to extend the existing permit period by 12 months, from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027. The permit is to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 296,987 cubic metres of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 500,000 cubic metres), derived from the maintenance dredging at the Cape Lambert Port, Pilbara, Western Australia.

The permit is valid until 31 July 2027. 

Sea Dumping Permit SD2016-3462 was revoked concurrently with the granting of a new 10-year permit for disposal of maintenance dredge material derived from the Port of Dampier, Western Australia (SD2025-4086).

The expiry date of SD2016-3462 was 31 May 2026.

A variation (No. 3) to a permit was granted to extend the existing permit period by 3 months from 28 February 2026 to 31 May 2026. The permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,113,116 cubic metres of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 1,225,000 cubic metres), derived from the maintenance dredging of areas within the berths, swing basins and departure channels associated with the East Intercourse Island and Parker Point port facilities at the Port of Dampier in Dampier, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 31 May 2026.

A variation (No. 1) to a permit was granted to extend the permit period by up to 19 months. This permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 18,100 cubic metres of material derived from the Overseas Passenger Terminal Bert at Circular Quay, Sydney, New South Wales.

This permit is valid until 30 September 2027.

A variation (No. 2) to a permit was granted to extend the time in which placement of the South Thevenard Artificial Reef must be completed. Located offshore approximately 20 kilometres north-west of Onslow, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 30 April 2055.

A variation (No. 2) to a permit was granted to extend the time in which placement of the Onslow Artificial Reef must be completed. Located offshore approximately 19.5 kilometres west of Onslow, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 30 April 2055.

A variation (No. 1) to a permit was granted to increase the capital dredge volume and incorporate additional, contingency dredge methods in the event that rocks or compacted sediment layers are encountered. Located at the Belmont Desalination Plant, Belmont, New South Wales.

This permit is valid until 15 April 2030.

A variation (No. 4) to a permit was granted to extend the permit period by 7 months. Located at the Port of Townsville, Queensland.

This permit is valid until 31 December 2026.

A variation (No. 2) to a permit was granted to accept the Carnarvon Artificial Reef Placement Plan dated 24 April 2025. The permit is for placement of the Carnarvon Artificial Reef, comprising of 700 purpose-built concrete modules, offshore approximately 7 kilometres west south-west of Pelican Point, Carnarvon, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 30 August 2055.

A variation (No. 2) to a permit was granted to extend the existing permit period by 7 months from 31 July 2025 to 28 February 2026. The permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,113,116 cubic metres of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 1,225,000 cubic metres), derived from the maintenance dredging of areas within the berths, swing basins and departure channels associated with the East Intercourse Island and Parker Point port facilities at the Port of Dampier in Dampier, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 28 February 2026.

A variation (No.2) to a permit was granted to extend the existing permit period by 6 months. The permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 34 million cubic metres of material derived from the capital dredging of Anketell Point Port development, Anketell Point, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 17 November 2025.

A variation (No.3) to a permit was granted to extend the existing permit period by 12 months. The permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,176,027 cubic metres of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 4,050,000 cubic metres), derived from maintenance dredging of the inner and outer harbour areas, swing basins and in the Platypus and Sea Channels at the Port of Townsville, Queensland.

This permit is valid until 31 May 2026.

A variation (No.2) to a permit was granted to vary the approved maintenance dredging footprint to encompass the widened channel footprint created from the Port of Townsville’s Channel Upgrade project. The permit is to load for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,618,327 of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 4,050,000 cubic metres), derived from maintenance dredging of the inner and outer harbour areas, swing basins and in the Platypus and Sea Channels at the Port of Townsville, Queensland.

This permit is valid until 31 May 2025.

Variation (No.1) to a permit was granted. The variation extended the existing permit period by 6 months from 31 January 2025 to 31 July 2025. The permit is for the loading for the purposes of dumping, and to dump up to 1,113,116 cubic metres of dredged material (in-situ; remaining from the original total of 1,225,000 cubic metres), derived from the maintenance dredging of areas within the berths, swing basins and departure channels associated with the East Intercourse Island and Parker Point port facilities at the Port of Dampier in Dampier, Western Australia.

A variation (No.1) to a permit was granted. The variation decreased the number of repurposed steel sections to be placed as part of the South Thevenard Artificial Reef from 7 to 3 sections. Located offshore approximately 20 kilometres north-west of Onslow, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 30 April 2055.

A variation (No.1) to a permit was granted. The variation decreased the number of repurposed steel sections to be placed as part of the Saladin Integrated Artificial Reef from 12 to 2 sections. Located offshore of Thevenard Island, Western Australia.

This permit is valid until 31 December 2051.
